(Michigan).- MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown secure license renewals, ensuring a safe and well-regulated gaming experience for players.

Michigan Gaming Control Board Renews Licenses for Detroit’s Three Commercial Casinos

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has unanimously renewed the licenses of Detroit’s three commercial casinos—MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown—during its latest public board meeting.

The decision follows an in-depth review of casino operations, regulatory compliance, and adherence to responsible gaming standards under the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act. This renewal guarantees that residents and visitors can continue to enjoy a safe, fair, and well-regulated gaming environment in Detroit.

“Detroit’s commercial casinos are not only entertainment destinations but also significant contributors to the local and state economies,” said MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams. “By renewing these licenses, the Board underscores its commitment to maintaining integrity, accountability, and community benefit in the gaming industry.”

Detroit’s casino industry generates millions in tax revenue, funding essential city services, economic development programs, and state initiatives. Licensees are taxed at 19% on adjusted gross receipts, with 8.1% allocated to the state and 10.9% to the City of Detroit. They also pay an 8.4% tax on retail sports betting receipts and annual regulatory fees that support MGCB operations.

The MGCB highlighted its continued focus on promoting small business participation in casino supply chains, expanding opportunities for local vendors and suppliers.

The three Detroit casinos will be eligible for license renewal again in September 2026, keeping the city’s gaming sector aligned with state compliance and economic growth goals.
